Recently, I spoke in Parliament on the Planning and Infrastructure Bill to propose an important amendment: that households living near large-scale solar developments, like the proposed Green Hill Solar Farm, should receive energy bill reductions, just as those living near new pylons do.
Residents in Grendon, Easton Maudit, Bozeat and other nearby communities are being asked to host vast infrastructure without seeing the direct benefits. That’s not fair.
If we want a just transition to renewable energy, we need to make sure it’s one that shares the rewards — not just the burden.
