Today I met with National Highways (NH) to discuss the ongoing works on the A43 to implement the Towcester Relief Road roundabout.
I have received a significant amount of correspondence from residents on this matter and as such I want to provide an update that hopefully assuages some concerns about these works.
I have made NH aware of residents’ concerns about the impact this is having on Silverstone village, particularly with the significant amount of traffic now queueing past the school. They are liaising with West Northamptonshire Council over this and both will review traffic management and signage.
NH are aware of an issue with a traffic signal in Abthorpe - they are dispatching their contractor to fix this on Monday.
A 30mph advisory limit has been put in place on a section of the A43 known as the Silverstone crossover. This is because the road surface has become uneven (you may have seen lorries at uneven angles going over this particular section of road). NH are dispatching surveyors next week to see what can be done to fix this issue.
Residents can be assured that the F1 and MotoGP weekends have been considered when planning these works - I have been assured that all four lanes will be operational on the A43 for both weekends.
There are currently also some works taking place on the A5. The start time of these have been pushed back, so that lane closures should not occur before 10AM to avoid disruption at peak hours.
