Our Armed Forces reserves play a vital role not only in keeping our country safe but also in supporting the NHS (c14,000 reservists work in the NHS). If a these reservists were deployed, what impact would that have on our health service?
We must ensure that essential public services such as the NHS are not left facing unintended pressures. Defence and healthcare must work hand in hand and I will continue to seek assurances that proper planning is in place to support both.
