Following this week's Cabinet reshuffle, I have written to the new Secretary of State for Housing, Angela Rayner, regarding the Manor Oaks housing application.
Recent changes to Government policy mean that housing applications for developments of more than 150 homes that are refused locally can now be referred to the Secretary of State. Given the significance of this proposal for our area, I have asked Angela Rayner to call in the application for ministerial consideration.
Manor Oaks would have a lasting impact on local infrastructure, roads and our communities. That is why I believe it deserves careful scrutiny at the highest level of Government.
As the new Housing Secretary settles into her role, I wanted to ensure this application is firmly on her radar from the very beginning.
I have consistently worked with residents throughout this process and will continue to make sure local voices are heard as decisions are taken.
I will keep residents updated as soon as I receive any further information from the Government.
