This week's Cabinet reshuffle in Westminster has real consequences for South Northamptonshire.
Following the appointment of Miatta Fahnbulleh as Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, I have written to her regarding the proposed Green Hill Solar development.
The application has already received a recommendation from the Planning Inspectorate, but the final decision now rests with the new Secretary of State.
I made it clear in my letter that I remain firmly opposed to Green Hill Solar. I believe it is the wrong development in the wrong place and would have a significant impact on our rural communities, farmland and local environment.
I have campaigned against this proposal from the outset, meeting residents, raising concerns in Parliament and making representations throughout the planning process.
The change in minister does not change the strength of local feeling. I wanted to ensure that one of the first things the new Secretary of State sees is the overwhelming case against this development.
I will continue making the case on behalf of residents and will keep you updated as soon as a decision is made.
