Recent claims from Keir Starmer about the state of the economy do not reflect the reality many people are experiencing day to day.
While inflation may be at its lowest level for a year, it remains higher than when Labour came into office. Food shopping is still expensive, petrol prices remain unpredictable and household budgets continue to be stretched.
Unemployment is now at its highest level in five years. Businesses are under growing pressure and too many people feel worse off rather than better.
This is what I hear consistently on the doorstep from residents across our constituency. People are working hard but not seeing the rewards and many are worried about the months ahead.
We need policies that genuinely back businesses, support job creation and help families manage the cost of living. At present Labour’s approach is not delivering the stability or security that households need.
