As you may be aware, Buckinghamshire Council has a consultation on their proposal NESS013: Turweston open until 6 September 2026.
According to the policy documents, this proposal is for a 143 hectare site located to the east of Brackley and adjacent to the Buckinghamshire boundary. The site is allocated for a residential-led mixed-use development delivering approximately 2890 dwellings, together with five net additional serviced Gypsy and Traveller pitches, around 2ha of employment land, 25000 sq.m. of town centre uses and supporting infrastructure and community facilities and a comprehensive network of green and blue infrastructure.
I appreciate the concerns of residents and the local Town Council too – as they have highlighted, due to its location within Buckinghamshire, neither Brackley Town Council nor West Northamptonshire Council would receive any developer contributions to support the additional pressure placed on infrastructure by this rapid expansion.
“Brackley Town Council therefore considers that the proposal places the costs and impacts of significant growth on Brackley, while the development and associated funding remain within Buckinghamshire. The Council believes this demonstrates a fundamental failure of cross-boundary planning and is one of the reasons why Policy NESS013 should be removed from the Local Plan.”
